‘How can Interior Design strategies be used to reduce anti-social behaviour in Fitzalan Square in Sheffield?’
This is my MA Project, which is about designing Fitzalan Square, as at the moment it has a strategic location, but poor design; as an Interior Designer, I redesigned this important and big square to make it exploited and to encourage more people to access it.
I created a food festival concept and designed the square to allow people to do activities (parents with their children). The theme was 'Inside Out'; I represented the Kitchen in the square in an abstract way.
I divided the space into X3 main areas, which are Sink, Stove and Fridge. In each area visitors will be doing different activity, playing together in Stove area, eating and chatting in Fridge area and playing with water and listening to water sounds in Sink area.

I designed the chairs to encourage more people to visit the square, as the visitor needs to assemble the chair first, which will create interaction between visitors and objects (chairs) |

I removed most of the walls, so people feel that they are observed
I used umbrellas to protect people in bad weather, but as the same time they feel that the space is opened.
I created chairs and tables that visitors will interact with, to encourage more people to visit the space as these chairs encourage people to discover them.
